Lesson 8, part 1
Starting the lesson
- Play Picture Dictation (see page 22). Give students three strips of paper. Each student writes three words from Unit 1 (e.g. zoo, puppet, cinema).
- Students take turns to dictate their words to a partner who writes them. They check the spelling together.
- Collect some of the words on the board. Ask students: Which of these places have you visited?
- In classes with deaf/hard of hearing students, show pictures of the places instead of words.

1 Before you read
Look quickly at the advert. Answer the questions.
- Give students a little time to read the text. Have them answer the questions with a partner. Elicit or explain any unfamiliar words.
- Use the Lollipop stick technique to answer the questions.
- In classes with deaf/hard of hearing students, check comprehension of the questions and the text by asking students to show or point to pictures.
2 Read and check
- Play the Class audio and have students read along and check their answers.
- In classes with deaf/hard of hearing students, give them the audioscript. This can be adapted as a reading-only task for deaf/hard of hearing students.

الدرس 8، الجزء 1
بدء الدرس
- العب لعبة “إملاء الصور” (انظر ص 22). أعطِ الطلاب ثلاث شرائط من الورق. يكتب كل طالب ثلاث كلمات من الوحدة 1 (مثل: حديقة الحيوان، العرائس، السينما).
- يتناوب الطلاب على إملاء كلماتهم لزملائهم الذين يقومون بكتابتها، ثم يقومون بفحص الإملاء معًا.
- اجمع بعض الكلمات على السبورة. اسأل الطلاب: أي من هذه الأماكن قد زرتموها؟
- في الفصول التي تضم طلابًا صمًا أو ضعاف السمع، اعرض صورًا للأماكن بدلاً من الكلمات.

1 قبل القراءة
انظر بسرعة إلى الإعلان. أجب عن الأسئلة.
- امنح الطلاب بعض الوقت لقراءة النص. دعهم يجيبون عن الأسئلة مع زميل. وضّح أو اشرح أي كلمات غير مألوفة.
- استخدم أسلوب العصي (Lollipop stick) للإجابة عن الأسئلة.

2 اقرأ وتحقق
- شغّل التسجيل الصوتي للدرس ودع الطلاب يقرؤون مع الاستماع للتحقق من إجاباتهم.
- في الفصول التي تضم طلابًا صمًا أو ضعاف السمع، امنحهم النص المكتوب (script). يمكن تكييف هذا النشاط ليكون نشاط قراءة فقط للطلاب الصم وضعاف السمع.
Treetops Adventure Playground
Do you like being high up in the air? Do you enjoy a challenge? If the answer to these questions is yes, then Treetops Adventure Playground is for you!
Climb on our exciting zip lines high above the ground!
Hang on the high ropes and don’t look down!
Wave from our big trampolines.
Balance on our high beams and have fun walking along the logs.
We also have a three-metre-high climbing wall and climbing pyramid to test your strength!
Treetops Adventure Playground contains:
• High ropes / climbing ropes course – How high can you go?
• Zip wires.
• A giant spider’s web!
You will wear a helmet and a special harness for all of our climbing equipment to keep you safe. Our instructors will tell you what to do, and you can put on your harness and get started.
Children under 12 must take part with an adult.
There are plenty of fun activities to play in the Ting-Tots playground for younger children.
The Ting-Tots playground is an area of swings, slides and climbing frames.
There’s the Treetops Maze!
Can you find your way through the tunnel. Can you find the exit?
Come to the refreshment area and have lunch. We provide sandwiches, crisps, fruit and drinks.
Tickets are £5.00 for children under 12. Adults and children over 12 pay £7.50.
We are open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, seven days a week (except in December).
School trips are welcome. Contact us to discuss discounts for large groups.

Diversity
Challenge
• Ask students to think of one more thing the place described could have and write a small paragraph about it.
Work in pairs. Imagine you’ve been to an adventure playground. Ask and answer. Add extra information.
• Ask two students to read the example dialogue.
• Give students time to think and write.
• Students then work in pairs.
• Ask students to share their answers with the class.
• In classes with deaf/hard of hearing students, put the written dialogues on the board or give copies to the students.
Finishing the lesson
• Ask students to tell you about another advert they have read. How is this one the same/different?
• Write their ideas on the board.
• Give students the ‘can-do’ checklist (see page 19).
• Students use the checklist to evaluate their progress in the unit and how they feel about the lesson.

Starting the lesson
• Ask children what they can remember about the Treetops Adventure Playground advert.
• Elicit and highlight the target vocabulary: zip wire, trampoline, climbing wall, harness, maze, refreshments.

سترتدي خوذة وحزام أمان خاص عند استخدام جميع معدات التسلق للحفاظ على سلامتك. مدربونا سيخبرونك بما يجب فعله، ويمكنك ارتداء الحزام والبدء مباشرة.
الأطفال تحت سن 12 عامًا يجب أن يشاركوا مع شخص بالغ.

- اطلب من الطلاب أن يخبروا عن إعلان آخر قرأوه. كيف يشبه هذا الإعلان / وكيف يختلف؟
- اكتب أفكارهم على السبورة.
- أعط الطلاب قائمة “ما يمكنني فعله” (انظر الصفحة 19).
- يستخدم الطلاب القائمة لتقييم تقدمهم في الوحدة ورأيهم في الدرس.

بدء الدرس
- اسأل الأطفال عما يتذكرونه عن إعلان ملعب المغامرات تريتوبس.
- استخرج وركز على المفردات المستهدفة: خط انزلاق، ترامبولين، جدار تسلق، حزام أمان، متاهة، استراحة.
Practice
Activity Book
1 Unscramble the words and label the pictures.
- Focus on the pronunciation.
- Choose a student and explain that the words on the board are in the picture.
- Students put the letters in the words in order and then label the pictures with the correct words.
- Highlight that the words are compound nouns (e.g. climbing wall).
- After students label the pictures, ask them to read the words aloud.
- In classes with deaf/hard of hearing students, ask them to write the words on the board.
2 Read the advert on Class Book page 23 again. Complete the sentences with the correct form of can.
- Play Guess what it is!
- Students complete the sentences with can or can’t.
- Check answers as a class.
- Follow the standard procedure for checking answers for deaf/hard of hearing students. See page 10.
- Extension: Ask students to make other sentences with the expression.
3 Answer the questions. Write complete sentences.
- Students can read the advert again if necessary before writing their answers to the questions individually.
- Check answers as a class.
- Provide deaf/hard of hearing students with the transcript of the advert.
4 Work in groups. Design your own adventure playground. Choose six or eight activities. Write about them and present your ideas to the class.
- Put students in groups of three or four.
- Have them choose a name and slogan, then have them discuss the questions.
- Groups present their ideas to their classmates.
- Each group draws a plan of their playground. Then each group presents their ideas and plan to the class.
- Encourage children to defend and justify their ideas and plans.
- In classes with deaf/hard of hearing students, put written copies of the questions on the board, in addition to explaining them orally. Provide students with the transcript of the advert so they can refer to it.
Extra activity: Collaborative work
- Place students in pairs. Have them write key words and phrases from the unit on small pieces of paper.
- Students can then practise by putting together the groups of words.
Extra activity: Fast finishers
- Put students in small groups and ask them to write an advert for a new adventure playground.
- Each group writes a short text and makes a drawing to illustrate their advert.
Finishing the lesson
- Use the Summative and final tick technique (see page 17) to check what students know at the end of the lesson.
- Ask students to reflect on what they found easy or difficult in this lesson and to note what they think they need more practice with.
Extra activity: Photocopiable 19
- Ask students to do photocopiable 19.

2 اقرأ الإعلان في كتاب الصفحة 23 مرة أخرى. أكمل الجمل باستخدام الصيغة الصحيحة لـ can.
- العب لعبة خمن ما هو!
- يكمل الطلاب الجمل باستخدام can أو can’t.
- تحقق من الإجابات مع الصف كاملًا.
- اتبع الإجراء القياسي للتحقق من الإجابات للطلاب الصم أو ضعاف السمع (انظر الصفحة 10).
- نشاط إضافي: اطلب من الطلاب تكوين جمل أخرى باستخدام التعبير.
3 أجب عن الأسئلة. اكتب جملًا كاملة.
- يمكن للطلاب قراءة الإعلان مرة أخرى إذا لزم الأمر قبل كتابة إجاباتهم على الأسئلة بشكل فردي.
- تحقق من الإجابات مع الصف كاملًا.
- زوّد الطلاب الصم أو ضعاف السمع بنص الإعلان.
4 اعمل في مجموعات. صمّم ملعب مغامرات خاصًا بك. اختر ستة أو ثمانية أنشطة. اكتب عنها وقدّم أفكارك للصف.
- ضع الطلاب في مجموعات من ثلاثة أو أربعة.
- دعهم يختارون اسمًا وشعارًا، ثم يناقشون الأسئلة.
- تقدم المجموعات أفكارها لزملائها.
- ترسم كل مجموعة مخططًا لملعبها ثم تعرض أفكارها وخطتها أمام الصف.
- شجّع الطلاب على الدفاع عن أفكارهم وتبريرها.
- في الصفوف التي تضم طلابًا صمًّا أو ضعاف السمع، ضع نسخًا مكتوبة من الأسئلة على السبورة بالإضافة إلى الشرح الشفهي. قدّم لهم نص الإعلان ليتمكنوا من الرجوع إليه.
نشاط إضافي: عمل تعاوني
- ضع الطلاب في أزواج. اطلب منهم كتابة كلمات وعبارات رئيسية من الوحدة على قصاصات صغيرة من الورق.
- يمكن للطلاب بعدها التدرب من خلال تجميع مجموعات الكلمات.
نشاط إضافي: للمنتهين بسرعة
- ضع الطلاب في مجموعات صغيرة واطلب منهم كتابة إعلان عن ملعب مغامرات جديد.
- تكتب كل مجموعة نصًا قصيرًا وترسم صورة لتوضيح إعلانهم.
إنهاء الدرس
- استخدم أسلوب التقييم الشامل وتقنية العلامة النهائية (انظر الصفحة 17) للتحقق مما يعرفه الطلاب في نهاية الدرس.
- اطلب من الطلاب التفكير فيما وجدوه سهلًا أو صعبًا في هذا الدرس وما يعتقدون أنهم بحاجة إلى المزيد من التدرب عليه.
